One School, One Book is a literacy program that encourages and enables reading at home, and build literacy skills.  Roxboro Elementary School, in partnership with the Roxboro Elementary School PTA will embark on the first One School, One Book program January 23 – February 9, 2017.
The students, teachers, administrators, aides, lunch aides, crossing guards, secretaries, custodial stall-each and every employee at Roxboro will read the same book, on the same reading schedule during the program.  They will read “Kenny and the Dragon” by Tony DiTerizzi.
Students parents, and staff will read the book each night, and participate in trivia, crafts, games, and analysis of the book during the school day.
From January 30 – February 8th, the Roxboro Elementary PTA will co-ordinate a Scavenger Hunt through the Cedar Fairmount and Coventry business districts. Students will receive a “passport” booklet to be stamped at each Scavenger Hunt location.  Students with completed passports can win prizes.  The participating businesses will need to “hide” their Scavenger Hunt item out of reach, but somewhere in their business or students to find.
Participating Cedar Fairmount merchants include:  Zoss the Swiss Baker, Apple Tree Books, Ten Thousand Villages, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cl Barber, Liquid Planet, and The Fairmount as either locations for the Scavenger Hunt or donating prizes.
The Scavenger Hunt will finish on February 8th.   Buffalo Wild Wings is sponsoring “Rox Eats”  for One School, One Book  all day February 4th.  A percentage of the check will be  donated to the PTA.
